Episode 48: Spidercat

Casey starts the episode off talking about another thing he loves besides animals; football (no not the American kind), and Ali speaks on a serious note about predators. Casey discusses how some scientists are trying to restore jaguar habitat in the US, while Ali talks about the unfortunate passing of Major in the White House. They go on to talk about their Favorite Cat Species from North America, the Cougar and the Jaguar. Casey educates us on our very unique creepy crawly Animal of the Week, the Bagheera Kiplingi. They finish off the episode with another round of their ‘Cups’ game.

Episode 49: A Resplendent Episode Indeed

Casey talks about how the San Diego Wild Animal Park  (Safari Park) experience is now that restrictions are lifted, and Ali talks about how there was a dog at a party she attended. Casey talks about how an airport helped to save an endangered species of garter snake, while Ali highlights another dog breed, the Keeshond. They go on to talk about their Favorite Endangered North American Species, the American Burying Beetle and the Ocelot. Casey educates us on our beautifully feathered Animal of the Week, the Resplendent Quetzal.  Ali rounds out the episode with a challenge for Casey featuring Official State Animals of the United States.

Episode 50: California Natives

Casey kicks the episode off by talking about his time with his sister at the La Brea Tar Pits, and Ali gives a review of another episode of Secrets of the Whales, giving Humpback Songs a rating of Safe. Casey talks about a report on the unfortunate state of many North American birds, while Ali talks about the issue of a lemur being kidnapped from the San Francisco Zoo  They go on to talk about their favorite North American Species Found in Condor Ridge at the Wild Animal Park, the California Condor and the Burrowing Owl. Casey informs us about our tiny Animal of the Week, the American Pika. Casey challenges Ali to a supposedly high school level biology quiz, though it’s very much a mix of biology and physiology.

Episode 51: Super Hero Abilities

Casey starts off by talking about how he had to get emergency surgery due to his burst appendix, and Ali talks about the struggles of playing Planet Zoo. Casey talks about the ‘Zombie Frog’, a new frog species recently discovered in the Amazon, while Ali reports on how a snow leopard from the San Diego Zoo got COVID. They go on to discuss their Favorite North American Reptiles, the Desert Tortoise and the Western Fence Lizard. Casey informs us about the fascinating biology of our Animal of the Week, the Axolotl. The episode concludes with Ali challenging Casey to another Jeopardy-like game.

Episode 52: Bats, Birds, and Tails That Break Things

Casey talks about his leisure activities of watching the Gold Cup and Shark Week while recovering from surgery, and Ali highlights some animals that have a presence on social media. Look below with the other links for their Instagram handles. Casey informs us about some aspects of the evolutionary arms race between moths and bats, while Ali highlights a new dog breed, the Rhodesian Ridgeback. They go on to talk about their Favorite American Bat Species, the Lesser Long-Nosed and the Tent-Making Bat. Casey teaches us about another interesting feathered Animal of the Week, the Greater Sage-Grouse. Casey wraps up the episode with an American focused challenge for Ali.
