Episode 57: Awesome Name and Adorable Choices

Casey first starts talking about his latest experience snorkeling, and Ali talks about a unique cat nail trimming trick she recently learned. Casey brings up a recent remarkable fossil discovery of a 28,000 year old cave lion cub, while Ali talks about the increased risk of emperor penguins going extinct. They go on to discuss their Favorite Animals From the Netherlands (If you ain’t Dutch you ain’t much), the European Polecat and the Stoat. Casey brings us to a close by teaching us about our tiny, and threatened, Animal of the Week, the Bavarian Pine Vole. They finish out the episode with another offshoot of their ‘Alphabet Challenge', this time having to name animals that begin with the last letter of the previous animal.

Episode 58: Bubble Nests and Childhood Favorites

Casey kicks the episode off by talking about his day spent at the San Diego Wild Animal Park (Safari Park) with one of his best friends, and Ali talks about how The Zoo: San Diego has answered some questions she had about animals being moved to different enclosures. Casey brings up an article about how a Polish beer company is helping by donating to conservation efforts within the Biebrza National Park, while Ali talks about a large triceratops fossil known as ‘Big John’ that’s going up for auction. The two go on to talk about their Favorite Animal Based Disney Animated Films Released Before 1990, Bambi and 101 Dalmations. Casey then teaches us about our little aquatic Animal of the Week, the Diving Bell Spider. Casey ends the episode by challenging Ali to a quiz where she has to correctly identify if a species is in the family he lists or not.

Episode 59: Distinguished Europeans

Casey discusses the trials and tribulations he experiences with his pet turtle, and Ali gives us her breakdown of another documentary, Secrets of the Whales: Ocean Giants, which earns a Safe rating. Casey talks about an article on how a new fossil skull is reshaping our understanding of reptile evolution, while Ali puts another dog breed in the spotlight, the Anatolian Shepherd. They go on to talk about their Favorite European National Animals, the Black-Tailed Godwit (Netherlands) and the European Lynx (Romania). Casey educates us on our slithery Animal of the Week, the Common European Adder. The pair conclude the episode with a challenge where they must name as many animals with 4 letters in their name as they can in 5 minutes.

Episode 60: Not Just for Wasps

Casey starts off a discussion regarding the upcoming spooky season and his time at Halloween Horror Nights, and Ali talks about her costume idea. Casey brings up an article about how the European Union has given approval for insects to be used in feed for pigs and chickens, while Ali discusses an article covering the largest slaughter of dolphins in the Faroe Islands ‘Grind’ history. The two then talk about their Favorite European Animals That Appear in Literature, the Common Raven (The Raven) and the European Badger (Harry Potter). Casey brings the European month to a close by exploring another tiny, and fascinating, Animal of the Week, the Box-Headed Blood Bee. Casey wraps up the episode by challenging Ali to a quiz he calls Ali’s Redemption, and it does not go well.
